A Family Affair
Enfield House of Pizza was founded in 1987 by Alex Korakas. Lori Bliss Hill became his first employee while she was attending Mascoma Valley Regional High School. She continued to work at Enfield House of Pizza throughout college and after she graduated, Alex offered Lori a partnership in the business. In 1991, Lori assumed full ownership and became the sole proprietor of Enfield House of Pizza, while Alex moved on to manage other businesses.
Along with selling the remainder of the business to Lori, Alex graciously also passed on to her, his long-held secret family recipes from Greece for the special pizza dough and sauce that Enfield House of Pizza is still making today.
In 2001, Lori decided to expand the restaurant. Construction began, 1/2 mile east of the old location, and the new Enfield House of Pizza opened July 4, 2001.
Lori’s mother, Marguerite Bliss, was Lori’s first official full-time employee. That was over 18 years ago and both Lori and her mother continue to enjoy working together every day. As Lori will tell you, “we’ve always been together and I can’t imagine it any other way. After all, she’s my mom!” And, when you visit Enfield House of Pizza you’ll find that everyone there knows her as Mom too. Just check out her name tag.
Not only is Enfield House of Pizza a family affair, but it’s also a community affair. Enfield House of Pizza participates actively in all sorts of community happenings including: Mascoma High School Project Graduation, David’s House Annual Auction, Toys for Tots, and town celebrations. “This is our community,” says Lori. “We love being a part of it.”
